Ukrainian Pavlo Lacy has become this year’s best foreign cadet of the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, receiving a special award, the International Sword.

This was announced on Facebook by the British Embassy in Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

Each year, the award is granted to cadets, who are not British nationals, with the best overall performance in military, academic, and practical studies.

This year, officers from 26 countries underwent studies at the Academy.

"The award was presented to the Ukrainian by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne at a solemn ceremony during the Sovereign's Parade. We sincerely congratulate Pavlo on this important achievement and wish him new successes," the embassy said in a statement.

On Twitter, the embassy wrote: "Ukrainian officers are winning this honour year after year. They train hard and they’re determined. A brilliant achievement for Pavlo Lacy. A great trend for the Ukrainian Armed Forces."

As Ukrinform reported earlier, last year, another Ukrainian cadet, Anton Sovenko of the Odesa Military Academy became the best foreign graduate of the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst.

In 2019, the Academy also handed the International Sword to a Ukrainian cadet, Artem Baranenko of the Petro Sahaidachnyi National Academy of Land Forces of Ukraine.
