Danilov predicts wave of Omicron variant in Ukraine in Feb
The spread of the COVID-19 variant Omicron in Ukraine is possible next February, so it is necessary to intensify the vaccination campaign, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov has said.
According to Ukrinform, he said this at a briefing following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on Thursday, December 30.
"We have heard a report by the minister of health about the spread of Omicron in our country. The president had many questions about vaccination. We need to spread this issue as much as we can, because, unfortunately, we will not be able to avoid it, and we can have a surge in Omicron cases in February. That's why we need to get vaccinated, and there was a report on this issue," Danilov said.
He added that the increase in morbidity will depend on the number of people who will be spending their holidays abroad.
Danilov noted that now the number of daily COVID-19 vaccinations has decreased from 300,000 to 125,000.
