Almost 91% of education workers fully vaccinated for COVID-19 - minister

In Ukraine, almost 91% of those employed by educational facilities have undergone a full course of vaccination for COVID-19.

This was announced by Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet, Ukrinform reports referring to the minister’s Telegram channel.

"The all-Ukrainian vaccination campaign continues. As of December 30, 2021, some 96.23% of educators have been vaccinated with at least one dose. Almost 91% of them have already been vaccinated with two jabs, which is more than 1,086 people," the head of the Ministry of Education wrote.

The highest shares of fully vaccinated educators were recorded in Dnipropetrovsk (96.08%), Luhansk (95.62%), Poltava (95.44%), Cherkasy (95.39%), and Sumy (95.36%) regions.

The largest number of vaccinated full-time employees is seen in specialized education facilities (96.72%), vocational education facilities (93.75%), general secondary schools (92.87%), preschool facilities (89.94%), professional higher education facilities (87.45%), and higher education facilities (82.94%).

According to the latest data per region, 113 general secondary education institutions are now operating remotely, while another 7,527 schools suspended operations, putting staff and students on vacation.

"Once again, I would like to thank everyone involved for the vaccination communication campaign, because together we are approaching the 100% vaccination rate among educators. I believe that next year we will be able to start off with the maximum vaccination rate," said Shkarlet.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, as of December 24, more than 90% of employees in educational facilities across Ukraine have undergone a full vaccination course for COVID-19.

Dnipropetrovsk (95.85%), Luhansk (95.37%), Cherkasy (95.24%), Sumy (94.93%) and Donetsk (94.47%) regions performed the best as regards fully vaccinated teachers.
