Health Ministry distributes 60,000 courses of Molnupiravir to regions
The Ministry of Health has distributed 60,000 courses of COVID antiviral medicine Molnupiravir to the regions of Ukraine.
First Deputy Health Minister Oleksandr Komarida said about this at a briefing on Thursday, February 10, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Later, we will receive another 240,000 courses [of Molnupiravir], 75,000 of which will arrive in Ukraine by the end of this week," he said.
Molnupiravir belongs to a class of antivirals that block an enzyme needed by the virus to reproduce the genetic code, preventing the virus from multiplying and reducing the risk of severe disease. The drug is available in a pill form, has no special storage requirements and is convenient to take.
As Ukrinform reported, on February 6, 60,000 courses of Molnupiravir arrived in Ukraine. The drug manufacturer is the American pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme.
