First English-language online course on history of Crimea and Crimean Tatars launched

The first English-language online course "Crimea: History and People", which tells about the history of Crimea and the indigenous people of Ukraine, the Crimean Tatars, has been launched.

"The course was developed to tell about the Crimean Tatar state, the Crimean Khanate, which existed for more than three centuries, about the unique culture of the Crimean Tatar people and their long struggle for the right to return to their homeland," the Office of the Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea posted on Facebook.

The course is free and consists of 12 video lectures. To take the course, you need to register on the Udemy international educational platform.

It is emphasized that the history and culture of the Crimean Tatars are an integral part of both Ukrainian and world history, given the problems of indigenous peoples, political, military and worldview challenges of today.

The course lectures tell about the ancient history of the peninsula, the Crimean Khanate, the colonial policy of the Russian Empire towards Crimea, the fate of Crimea and the Crimean Tatar people in the Soviet period, Crimea as the Autonomous Republic within independent Ukraine, the temporary occupation of the peninsula by Russia, the culture and lifestyle of Crimeans, why it is important to study the history of Crimea and Crimean Tatars.

The online course "Crimea: History and People" was developed by the Ukrainian Institute and EdEra online education studio with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
