Ukraine authorities appeal to Meta after Instagram account of Azovstal Defenders Families’ Association blocked
The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has appealed to Meta, which owns Instagram, in connection with the blocking of the account of the Association of Azovstal Defenders’ Families.
This was announced by Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Today I received a request from the Association of Azovstal Defenders to block the Instagram account. Our team has already sent a letter to Meta with a request to unblock the page," Fedorov wrote.
In addition, the minister noted, letters were sent to Meta regarding the page of the head of the association and five other pages related to the Azov Regiment. They have all been blocked.
"Accounts of Ukrainian defenders should not be blocked. We are waiting for a prompt response from the Meta team. We hope that soon the company will be able to comprehensively change approaches to content moderation and resolve the problem of mass blocking of Ukrainian users. The world should know the truth about the war in Ukraine," Fedorov stressed.
As reported, the Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders has called on the authorities of Ukraine and international organizations, in particular the ICRC and UN, to prevent the sham tribunal targeting the Azov fighters.
