Nearly 70 specialists trained to provide psychological assistance to children in Ukraine

As part of the National Program of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, together with the Save The Children initiative, 69 specialists have undergone training in psychological first aid for children.

That’s according to the press service of Ukraine’s Health Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

"Throughout the three two-day online training sessions on the topic ‘Psychological first aid for specialists in assistance jobs," 69 employees of regional social service centers successfully completed training in providing psychological first aid," the statement reads.

As noted, the set of skills and abilities acquired by the participants will help them work with children, in particular, in restricting stress manifestations arising from accidents, natural disasters, conflicts, domestic violence, and other crisis situations.

Following the training, each participant was granted a certificate allowing them to start training social workers across territorial communities in psychological first aid.

As reported, the Ministry of Health has been training family doctors to provide psychological support to Ukrainians in order to overcome the consequences to their mental health as a result of the full-scale war unleashed by the Russian Federation.
