Ukraine appeals to UNESCO as Russians threaten child abductions in occupied areas

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on UNESCO to urgently respond to Russia's threats to parents in the temporarily occupied Kherson and Zaporizhia regions to send their children to orphanages if they refuse to enroll them in schools.

This was stated by MFA spokesman Oleg Nikolenko on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

“Faced with resistance, Russia threatens parents in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions with sending children to orphanages if they do not sign them up to Russian-seized schools. Moscow is using education as a tool of oppression. We call on @UNESCO to urgently react to this crime,” Nikolenko tweeted.

As reported, in the temporarily occupied Mariupol and Melitopol, the invaders are threatening parents, who refuse to send their children to school run by collaborators, with stripping them of parental rights.
