Vereshchuk, IOM Director General discuss assistance to displaced persons ahead of winter

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk discussed IOM's participation in supporting internally displaced persons ahead of winter at a meeting with António Vitorino, Director General of the International Organization for Migration.

"Ahead of winter, Ukraine faces great challenges. We must receive evacuees in safe regions and accommodate them in decent conditions. This is our humanitarian front which needs strong support, including from international organizations. Therefore, we hope for effective cooperation with IOM. We will win together," said Vereshchuk, the Ministry of Reintegration of Ukraine informs.

It is noted that cooperation on the humanitarian front was discussed, in particular the participation of the IOM in supporting internally displaced persons in their places of compact residence.

Vereshchuk and Vitorino also talked about the cooperation of the Ministry of Reintegration and the International Organization for Migration in providing assistance and financial support to Ukrainians evacuating from temporarily occupied territories and dangerous regions.

Since February 24, full-scale Russian military aggression has been ongoing in Ukraine. Several million Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes fleeing the war.
