Azovstal defender released from captivity gives birth to girl

Maryana Mamonova, a medic and defender of Azovstal recently freed from Russian captivity, gave birth to a girl today.

"Maryana Mamonova, a medic, a captive who returned home this week, gave birth to a daughter," Rivne City Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak posted on Telegram.

According to him, the newborn weighs 3,250 grams and is 57 cm long.

As reported, Maryana Mamonova is a Ukrainian medic, captain of the medical service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She was born in Rivne region, graduated from the Ternopil Medical University, has master's degree from the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy.

She had four rotations to the ATO/JFO. Mamonova served as the head of the medical service of the 501st Marines Battalion. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, she served in Mariupol. Before the capture, Maryana told her family that she was pregnant. From April 4, 2022, she was held captive by the Russian invaders. On September 21, she was released within the exchange along with other Ukrainian defenders.
