Ukrainian photojournalists Yevhen Maloletka and Mstyslav Chernov won the prestigious French Bayeux Calvados-Normandy War Correspondents Prize.

"Thanks to Yevhen and Mstyslav, the world saw photos from the bombed-out Mariupol – the impressive pictures of the maternity hospital. They were the last journalists to leave the city," the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine posted on Telegram.

The Ministry notes that their works can be seen at the exhibition "Flash. Ukrainian photography today" at the Ukrainian House which will last until October 23.

As reported, Ukrainian journalists won five prizes of the Free Media Awards 2022 founded by the Norwegian Fritt Ord Foundation and the ZEIT-Stiftung charitable foundation in August.

In particular, the winners were Mstyslav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka, journalist and writer Natalia Humeniuk, Zaborona online media outlet, photo and video correspondent Andriy Dubchak, and journalist Vladyslav Yesypenko who is currently imprisoned in occupied Crimea.

In July, photojournalist Yevhen Maloletka and journalist Mstyslav Chernov won Deutsche Welle Freedom of Speech Award.

In May, the Pulitzer Prize Board awarded a special citation to Ukrainian journalists covering events amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
