FC Milan to allocate €150,000 to restore stadium in Irpin
Andriy Shevchenko, ex-coach of the Ukraine national football team, and the United24 fundraising platform started collecting funds for the reconstruction of the stadium in the town of Irpin, Kyiv region. FC Milan will make the first contribution of 150,000 euros.
"Andriy Shevchenko and United24 have started raising funds to restore the stadium in Irpin. This will be the first project of United24 in the area ‘Rebuilding Ukraine’. The legendary football player has already involved FC Milan in the fundraising campaign, the club will allocate 150,000 euros for the restoration of the stadium," the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine posted on Telegram.
The stadium was destroyed by Russian invaders in March. After the liberation of Irpin, children were playing on its football field, so the United24 ambassador made it his goal to raise funds for reconstruction.
EUR 600,000 need to be collected to restore the stadium. These funds will be used to rebuild the stands and the field and provide lighting.
Shevchenko plans to involve the international and Ukrainian football community in the project so that "future legendary and world-renowned football players grow up" at the stadium.
As reported, Andriy Shevchenko became the first ambassador for the United24 platform.
