SBU to investigate helicopter crash in Brovary

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has instructed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to investigate criminal proceedings over a helicopter crash in Brovary, which killed 18 people, including three children and senior officials of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

This was stated by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, Ukrinform reports with reference to the PGO press service.

"Investigators and experts are currently working at the scene. Urgent investigative actions are being carried out. We are considering all possible versions of the helicopter crash. The pre-trial investigation has been entrusted to SBU investigators," the report says.

The case is under the control of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the department added.

As reported, a helicopter fell near a kindergarten and a residential building in Brovary, Kyiv region, on January 18.

Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, Deputy Interior Minister Yevhen Yenin, and Ministry’s State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych were among those killed in the helicopter crash.

At least 18 people were killed, including 3 children, and 29 more people were injured, including 15 children.
