Finland shelters 50,000 Ukrainians

Finland has sheltered 50,000 Ukrainians who fled the war unleashed by Russia.

"We are glad that we can shelter 50,000 Ukrainians in Finland. We welcome them, we support them, and we hope that they find the conditions favorable and worthy," President of Finland Sauli Niinistö said at a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In addition, Niinistö mentioned the latest package of military aid to Ukraine which has brought the total cost of security assistance to about EUR 600 million, as well as the provided generators and humanitarian aid.

In his turn, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the Finnish partners for sheltering Ukrainian refugees and "treating our people warmly".

"Today, in times of these challenges, during the war, such a warm attitude is really important. This is one of the challenges for our state: people – women, children, the elderly – should enjoy equality in other countries while this war is going on. I highly appreciate it, we will not forget it," the President of Ukraine emphasized.

As reported, President of Finland Sauli Niinistö is visiting Ukraine on January 24.
