On day 1 of recruitment campaign, thousands apply to join Ukraine’s Offensive Guard

During the first day of recruitment, thousands of potential volunteers expressed their will to join the newly-formed assault brigades under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The National Guard reported the news on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has started recruiting volunteers for assault brigades as part of the National Guard, National Police, and State Border Guard Service. A positive trend is already being recorded regarding the applications to join the ranks of assault brigades under the auspices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine," the National Guard noted.

In particular, 3,086 citizens reported to the administrative service centers, of which 527 submitted applications. Also, 291 people declared their will to join the assault units of the National Police, 114 – the National Guard, and 122 – the border guards.

A total 2,049 applications were submitted to the target website storm.mvs.gov.ua, including by 535 applicants to the assault units of the National Police, 1,200 – to the National Guard, and 314 – to the State Border Guard Service.

Also, 480 calls were made to the hotline for consultation.

As reported by Ukrinform, on February 2, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the formation of the Offensive Guard assault brigades, which can be joined by volunteers. The core of these units will be comprised of active-duty police officers, border guards, and National Guardsmen.
