Pope Francis calls for prayers for Ukraine

Pontiff has called on all believers to pray for the war-torn people of Ukraine.

The relevant message was posted on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"During these days of Holy Week, let us pray together more intensely for the war-torn people of Ukraine, and for all peoples experiencing war, that with God's help, paths of peace might be opened," Pope Francis wrote.

As reported, the Pope greeted all those attending the Palm Sunday celebration, as well as believers around the world, asking everyone to unite in prayers for peace, also mentioning Ukraine in his address.

Also, Pope Francis offered his blessing to a peace caravan that had left Italy for Ukraine to bring humanitarian aid.

He noted that this is “a sign of the closeness of the people of Italy to the battered people of Ukraine.”
