Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko and his French counterpart Francois Braun have signed a declaration on cooperation between the two countries' health ministries.

Liashko announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

The ministers outlined the first priority areas of cooperation, including support for Ukraine's integration into the health care system of the European Union, particularly Ukraine's participation in joint European events and public health support programs, and the establishment of a regular dialogue regarding the prospect of Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Cooperation between hospitals in strengthening the personnel potential of the health care sector and exchanges between French and Ukrainian health care institutions has also been identified as one of the priority areas.

The issue concerns training and improving the qualifications of medical workers, studying and implementing best practices in managing medical facilities, and increasing the capacity of Ukrainian hospitals.

The third priority area is support for the development of local, regional and national health care strategies, as well as the provision of diagnostics and care in the fields of prosthetics, reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation, mental health, medical imaging, prevention, screening and treatment of certain chronic diseases, including cancer.

The declaration was signed at Superhumans Center, a specialized prosthetics and rehabilitation clinic that opened a few days ago in the Lviv region.

Liashko thanked Braun and the people of France for supporting Ukraine, particularly in the medical field.

"This is extremely valuable in this particularly difficult time for Ukrainians," he said.
