Ukraine, Turkey discuss support for evacuated Ukrainian children
Ukrainian and Turkish government officials have discussed support for Ukrainian children evacuated to Turkey, according to a statement posted on the website of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
According to the statement, an international Ukrainian-Turkish meeting on this issue was held online.
"The Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude to the Turkish people for the comprehensive support of our children. At the same time, the participants in the meeting emphasized that Ukraine strives to proactively participate in all issues related to the protection of the rights of Ukrainian children," the report reads.
Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Turkey has sheltered more than 1,000 Ukrainian children. Among them are orphans, children deprived of parental care and other vulnerable categories of children.
Turkish representatives emphasized their desire to continue to create the best conditions for young Ukrainians.
"Our dream is for children to grow up under a peaceful sky and not know what war and natural disasters are like," said Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services of Turkey Ismail Ergunes.
The participants in the event agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would visit Turkey in the near future. The Turkish side expressed its readiness to continue providing humanitarian and political support to Ukraine.
