Ministry of Health: More than 112,000 Ukrainians have died from COVID-19
The announcement of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic does not mean that we should forget about vaccination.
"On Friday, May 5, the WHO issued a statement that COVID-19 is no longer a danger, but we must understand that it has not gone anywhere, people continue to fall ill all over the world. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 112,000 Ukrainians have died from COVID-19, and it cannot be said that we should forget about COVID from Friday. Vaccination is an effective means of protection against the infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus," First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Serhiy Dubrov said on the air of the national news telethon.
The deputy minister reminded that in Ukraine, by the decision of the government, the quarantine lasts until June 30, and this decision will be reviewed in the future.
As reported, according to WHO data, as of January 1, 2023, residents of Ukraine received 34,939,868 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. WHO recommends Ukraine to increase the level of coverage with the primary series of vaccination of elderly people, people with weakened immunity, and people with concomitant diseases, regardless of age. WHO also recommends vaccinating at-risk groups against COVID-19 every 6-12 months.
