Almost 125,000 Ukrainians evacuated to safer regions over nine months

Ukraine’s authorities, international organizations, and volunteers have helped nearly 125,000 citizens flee war zones in Donetsk, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions to safer regions of the country in the past nine months.

That’s according to the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Ukrinform reports.

As mandatory evacuation from Donetsk region has been ongoing since August 2022, about 70,000 citizens have moved to safer regions in nine months. Among them are more than 8,000 children and pver 3,000 people with reduced mobility, according to the report posted on Telegram.

Evacuation from the liberated territories, which was launched last fall, is also underway. Within its framework, more than 25,000 citizens left Kharkiv region in eight months. Over 23,000 people evacuated the recently liberated territories of Kherson region in six months.
