Ukrainian passport ranks 30th in terms of mobility

Ukraine’s travel passport has moved six spots up to 30th in the Passport Index by Henley&Partners.

That’s according to the latest update, seen by Ukrinform.

Ukrainian passport holders can travel visa-free or visa-on-arrival to 146 countries.

According to the latest ranking, Japan lost its champion position in the index for the first time in five years, now ranking third.

Singapore is now officially the world’s "most powerful" passport as its citizens are able to visit 192 of the world's 227 tourist destinations without a visa.

Germany, Italy, and Spain rose to runnerups with visa-free access to 190 countries, while Japanese passport holders joined citizens from six other countries — Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden — completing the top 3 with access to 189 destinations without the need to get a visa beforehand.

The Henley&Partners Passport Index each quarter analyzes the visa regulations of 227 countries and territories, ranking them by the number of visa-free entry destinations.

The ranking has been compiled for more than 10 years in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world's largest travel information database.

A country's position in the ranking is determined by the number of countries that its citizens can enter without obtaining a visa (without a visa or with a visa upon arrival). Passports of all considered countries shall be biometric.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, as of January 2023, the Ukrainian travel passport occupied the 36th position in the international ranking. At that time, it was possible to enter 144 countries without a visa or with a visa upon arrival.
