Government approves draft law on weapons declaration
Cabinet of Ministers has approved the draft law "On amendments to the law 'On ensuring the participation of civilians in the defense of Ukraine' to improve the procedure for obtaining, declaring and handling firearms."
Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"The draft law, among other things, proposes to define firearms and ammunition that are subject to declaration/not subject to declaration, as well as to prohibit the transfer of firearms and ammunition received or declared by civilians to other persons, except for the transfer to the National Police of Ukraine," he said.
The draft law also prohibits civilians from carrying, storing, transporting, or using firearms and ammunition, which are not listed in the registers and databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or not declared to the National Police, in areas where active hostilities are not taking place, etc.
As reported, the Unified Register of Weapons was launched in Ukraine on June 23.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said that all weapons owned by Ukrainian citizens would be registered in this registry.
