Prosecutor's Office of ARC investigates 127 cases of illegal arrests in Crimea for pro-Ukrainian position

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is investigating 127 criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal deprivation of liberty of persons for their pro-Ukrainian position or participation in relevant events.

That the Prosecutor's Office informed the ZMINA Human Rights Center, Ukrinform reports. 

"The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol provides procedural guidance in 127 criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal imprisonment of persons for their pro-Ukrainian position or participation in relevant events, as well as in one case on the fact of improper provision of medical care to Ukrainian political prisoners," the statement reads.

It is specified that in eight criminal proceedings, indictments have been sent to court for consideration on the merits. In others, pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The proceedings were initiated in 2014-2023.

As reported, in June, human rights activists recorded 15 detentions for political reasons in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
