Border guards stop Stradivarius violin from being taken out of Ukraine

Border guards of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi unit, together with customs officers, prevented the export of a violin made by Italian master Antonio Stradivari in 1730.

That's according to the State Border Guard Service, Ukrinform reports.

As noted, a bag with a musical instrument was found in the cabin of a bus during border and customs control at the "Palanka-Maiaky-Udobne" checkpoint.

The instrument was seized and sent for expert examination.

The famous master Antonio Stradivari (1644 - 1737) created almost 2.500 unique instruments, but about 650 pieces have survived to this day.

As reported, State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a significant decrease in smuggling at the border has been recorded.
