Shmyhal: About million Ukrainian children currently abroad fleeing war

About one million Ukrainian children are still abroad, fleeing the war.

"War is expensive. First of all, it concerns the lives of Ukrainians, refugees who left Ukraine with their children. In the European Union alone, more than 770,000 children are officially registered in the European education system. We consider that there are many more children. One million children are a resource of our future which we must return," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at the conference of Ukraine’s ambassadors, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, President Zelensky set the task to develop appropriate solutions that would encourage Ukrainians to return home, not to integrate completely into other countries.

"And in order to return children here, security is needed because their parents, their mothers will ask why they should return children if they are already adapting and assimilating in the countries you represent," the Head of Government addressed the ambassadors present at the event.

As reported, President Zelensky stated at an emergency meeting with the heads of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions on August 2 that the protection of Ukrainians is one of the mandatory tasks of diplomats around the world. Ukrainian embassies should help our people and, if necessary, save them.
