170 children evacuated from Kupyansk district

170 children were taken from Kupyansk district in Kharkiv region, where military operations are ongoing, after the mandatory evacuation was announced.

"A total of 743 people, including 170 children, have already been evacuated from dangerous communities of Kupyansk district. The pace of evacuation directly depends on what kind of military situation we have. Of course, when people hear a message, including from the Ministry of Defense, that the situation is stabilizing, it is a ‘signal’ for them not to leave. It is wrong. Because the enemy shells the civilian population," Oleh Syniehubov, the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said during the United News telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to his information, about 11,000 people, including 540-570 children, remain in Kupyansk and surrounding communities which are constantly under fire.

"The enemy continues to shell settlements close to the front line every day. We record injured civilians almost every day. Therefore, it is necessary to evacuate," said the governor.

As reported, on the morning of August 29, Russian troops struck the town of Kupyansk with artillery. A food enterprise was hit. A 45-year-old security guard was killed.
