Ukraine ratifies CoE Convention on Cinematographic Co-production
On June 5, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law of Ukraine on the Ratification of the Convention of the Council of Europe on Cinematographic Co-production, which will contribute to the development of the Ukrainian film industry.
That’s according to the State Film Agency of Ukraine (Derzhkino), Ukrinform reports.
The State Film Agency emphasized that the ratification of the Convention will contribute to the development of the Ukrainian film industry, strengthening international cultural and economic cooperation, expanding access to international markets for the Ukrainian film industry, and increasing the level of Ukraine’s representation at international film festivals and platforms.
Also, thanks to this, filmmakers will be able to increase the number of joint production projects.
The State Film Agency expressed gratitude to the President of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada, and Cabinet of Ministers for the adoption of a law seen critical for national cinematography.
As reported, in November 2021, the then Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tkachenko, and Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Pejcinovic-Buric, signed in Strasbourg the updated CoE Convention on Cinematographic Co-production.
