Japan offers displaced Ukrainians entrepreneurship courses

The representative office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Japan has launched a new training program for the Ukrainians displaced by war, aiming to help them become economically independent in a foreign country.

This is reported by NHK, Ukrinform saw.

The program is aimed at Ukrainian women and youths and implemented based on the UN University in Tokyo in the form of five-day training sessions on developing entrepreneurial skills.

During training, professors from Tokyo universities and top managers from local companies will introduce Ukrainians to opportunities and know-how for setting up their own business in Japan and help them acquire entrepreneurial skills to start their own business.

Thirty-six Ukrainians took part in the inaugural course, which kicked off this Monday. They were handed special certificates at the graduation ceremony on Friday.

The UNIDO representative office in Japan plans to hold similar training courses until March 2025 and create opportunities for displaced Ukrainians to reach out to Japanese businessmen and explore various opportunities and ways of doing business in the country.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, 32,400 Ukrainian citizens have found jobs in Lithuania out of the 86,000 Lithuania-based holders of a temporary protection status enforced across the EU.
