CSC called photo of "Farion's killer", which was spread on social media, fake

The Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security warns that the photo of a young man allegedly the murderer of linguist and public figure Iryna Farion, circulated on social media, is a fake.

According to Ukrinform, the Centre for Strategic Communications reported this on Facebook.

"Telegram channels have circulated a photo of a 21-year-old man who may be the murderer of former Member of Parliament Iryna Farion," the post reads.

According to the Centre for Strategic Communications, this information is unreliable.

As Ukrinform reported, in the evening of 19 July, an unknown person shot at Iryna Farion in Lviv. She died in hospital as a result of her injuries.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder).

President Volodymyr Zelensky heard reports from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and SSU Head Vasyl Malyuk on the investigation into the crime.
