Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has emphasized the importance of introducing an effective military rehabilitation system in Ukraine.

He said this during the 1st International Congress on Military Medicine and Mental Health "Warrior: Life, Health, Combat Capability," according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"An effective rehabilitation system will be developed and introduced. It will help military personnel return to service after injuries and illnesses. This will include a military mental rehabilitation program. Our goal is to ensure optimal rehabilitation, depending on whether a person returns to the army or transitions to civilian life," the minister said.

According to him, together with NATO, Ukraine will complete the creation of five centers of the "Renovator" project -- modern rehabilitation centers for the military. Modern technologies will be implemented in each such center, and specialists will provide quality treatment and rehabilitation of soldiers.

The 1st International Congress on Military Medicine and Mental Health "Warrior: Life, Health, Combat Capability" was held in Kyiv on July 27. The event was organized with the support of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

More than 20,000 military personnel underwent rehabilitation at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's rehabilitation facilities in 2023.
