Ukrainian decoration appeared on Christmas tree in Canadian Parliament
The Christmas tree installed in the parliament building of the Canadian province of Ontario was decorated with Ukrainian ornaments.
According to Ukrinform, Consul General of Ukraine in Toronto Oleh Nikolenko wrote about this on Facebook.
“There are many ways to talk about Ukraine. For me, one of the most meaningful ways is through its unique craftsmanship and culture. Today I had the honor to present the Tree of Friendship in the Parliament of Ontario with a handmade ornament “Home” made by the Ukrainian ethnic shop “Koza Dereza” in Ternopil,” said Nikolenko.
He emphasized that Ukraine is “deeply grateful to the people of Ontario for providing a temporary home for those displaced by the war.”
“This ornament is a call for further support for the establishment of a just peace in Ukraine so that Ukrainians can return to their homes,” said the Consul General.
The diplomat also thanked all members of the Ontario Parliament for their solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
The Tree of Friendship in the Parliament of Ontario is decorated with toys and other items representing the peoples living in the province.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ontario Parliament is currently approving a bill that proposes to declare September the month of Ukrainian cultural heritage. It is expected to be adopted by the end of 2024.
