NOC of Ukraine to mull boycotting 2024 Summer Olympics
The extraordinary General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine will mull over a possible boycott of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
As MP Zhan Beleniuk posted on Telegram, publishing a screenshot of the NOC's letter, the extraordinary General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine will be held on February 3. One of the issues on the agenda is consultations with national sports federations regarding a possible boycott of the 2024 Olympic Games if Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to return to international sports arenas until Russia's aggression against Ukraine ends.
"It looks like they will return... so this event will have serious consequences," the MP noted.
As reported, the International Olympic Committee published a statement, assuming that Russians and Belarusians will be able to take part in the Olympics in Paris under a neutral flag.
Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, President of the National Olympic Committee Vadym Hutsait said that the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the Olympic Games is unacceptable for Ukraine.
