Italy announces EUR 140M package for Ukraine’s infrastructure restoration
The Italian government is preparing a EUR 140 million economic assistance package for Ukraine to rebuild its infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani stated this at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
Tajani said the Italian government decided to provide Ukraine with a new package worth EUR 140 million to “restore infrastructure - railways, agriculture, healthcare, mine clearance, etc.”
He added that memorandums of cooperation between the Ukrainian and Italian sides are planned to be signed on the sidelines of the conference in Berlin and noted that the Italian government encourages Italian companies to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Tajani also emphasized Italy's participation in the restoration of cultural sites in Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, the European Union has found a legal way to transfer to Ukraine the proceeds of immobilised Russian assets, so Ukraine will be able to receive the first transfers of EUR 1.5 billion from these profits in July this year.
