German businesses a driving force in Ukraine's reconstruction - Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has thanked German businesses for the support they provide to Ukraine, including in its reconstruction.

He stated this in his speech to participants in the "Day of Industry" conference on Monday, June 24, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"German entrepreneurs already today play a decisive role in supporting and rebuilding Ukraine and its European," the chancellor said.

Scholz mentioned the Ukraine Recovery Conference, recently held in Berlin, and said that EUR 16 billion worth of agreements had been reached and announced in the field of reconstruction, including a large part of them by German companies.

The President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), Siegfried Russwurm, said in his introductory remarks that German business stands in solidarity with Ukraine.

The Day of Industry -- a conference of the Federation of German Industries, which brings together representatives of business, politics, science and society – is taking place on June 24 and 25, 2024.
