Germany, Poland to cooperate in rebuilding and bringing Ukraine closer to EU - Scholz
Germany and Poland are among Ukraine's biggest partners in terms of providing comprehensive assistance during the struggle of Ukrainians against the aggressor and will cooperate closely in rebuilding Ukraine and bringing the country closer to the EU.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this at a briefing with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk after German-Polish intergovernmental consultations in Warsaw on July 2, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We stand firmly together on the side of Ukraine in its struggle... We will cooperate even more closely on the issue of reconstruction and on Ukraine's path to the EU," Scholz said.
He recalled that both countries support Ukraine the most in the military, political, economic, energy, and humanitarian areas. In particular, both countries have accepted the largest number of Ukrainians seeking protection from the war, he said. In this context, the chancellor said that Berlin and Warsaw would continue to work to ensure that the issue of refugees is resolved in solidarity within the EU.
