UNICEF allocates ₴13 million for child protection in Zakarpattia region

In Zakarpattia, in 2023-2024, UNICEF allocated 13 million hryvnias for child protection.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration, Ukrinform reports.

“In less than two years, nearly 500 thousand people throughout the region have received assistance from the Fund in the areas of child protection, education, health and nutrition, psychosocial support, winterization, and others. In 2023-2024, UNICEF allocated UAH 13 million for child protection activities alone (family support, including financial support, psychological support, violence prevention, etc.

As noted, during a meeting between the leadership of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration and the head of the Lviv Regional Office of UNICEF in Ukraine, Ninke Woppen, they discussed a future joint project to create a Barnahus, an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional specialized center in Zakarpattia.

It is planned to work with children who have suffered from violence or witnessed such crimes.

“This is an extremely important initiative designed to develop a child-friendly justice system,” said the first deputy head of the regional military administration.

The partners are also aware of the challenges facing the country in the coming winter, so they are ready to provide alternative power sources in accordance with the needs of the region to provide electricity to water utilities, educational and healthcare institutions.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on July 18, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The parties discussed Ukraine's preparations for the winter.
