Military airfield near Zhytomyr comes under missile attack
Head of Zhytomyr Regional State Administration Vitaliy Bunechko said this in a video address, Ukrinform reports.
"Last night was calm. Unfortunately, the Ozerne airfield was shelled at about 8 o'clock. About six missiles hit [the airfield]. There was an explosion was without consequences," Bunechko said.
According to Zhytomyr Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn, the city is currently under tightened security.
This is the second enemy shelling of the airfield in Ozerne. The first one occurred early on February 24. At that time, a Su-27 plane and a fuel truck were on fire. As a result, six people died and two were injured.
Ukrinform reported earlier that the head of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, announced on February 24 the beginning of "a special military operation" in Donbas.
Martial law has been imposed across Ukraine.
