Russian invasion update: Ukrainian air defense downs Russian missile launched on Kyiv Reservoir dam
At 03:50, February 26, the Ukrainian air defense shot down a Russian missile flying in the direction of the Kyiv Reservoir dam.
"If the dam is destroyed, the flood will lead to catastrophic casualties and damage, including flooding of residential areas in Kyiv and the suburbs," the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine posted on Telegram.
Moreover, the destruction of the Kyiv Reservoir dam could lead to the destruction of the Kaniv, Kremenchuh and other dams of the cascade and even an accident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the Ministry added.
As reported, the head of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, announced the start of a special military operation in Donbas on February 24.
Martial law has been imposed throughout Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization.
