Part of Belarusian military units brought to combat readiness - Ukraine Army’s General Staff
That’s according to an operational update on Russian invasion, released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00, Ukrinform reports.
The Russian Federation continues to build up aviation hardware and activate special operations forces in Belarus. More than 50 warplanes, 10 helicopters, and two An-124 planes have been deployed at the Machulishchi airfield," the report says.
It is noted that the Belarusian command has brought some of its units into combat readiness.
The General Staff said that in Ukraine, the Russian occupiers are employing methods of hostilities banned by international humanitarian law, including seizing social infrastructure, disguising themselves as Ukrainian military, police, and rescuers, sporting their uniform. Specops sabotage groups use ambulance vehicles and police cars stolen from hospitals and ambulance stations; occupy premises of children's camps and schools, while enemy artillery and MLR systems are deployed on sports grounds.
“Three ambulances with markings used by invaders were recently spotted in Kyiv. In the Genichesk district of Kherson region, Russian occupiers deployed MSTA-S artillery units in a residential neighborhood. A convoy is moving in the direction of Makariv and Kyiv, while the enemy has put children and women on armored vehicles as a human shield,” the General Staff said.
It is noted that the moral and psychological condition of the occupying forces is low. In particular, near Koriukivka, Chernihiv region, conscripts with the Russian armed forces are ready to lay down arms and surrender.
Meanwhile, hundreds of disabled Russian armored vehicles and tanks stand abandoned on motorways throughout Ukraine.
As of 18:00, enemy losses amounted to about 4,500. As for the hardware, destroyed and damaged were 27 aircraft. (figure to be updated), 26 helicopters, about 150 tanks, more than 700 armored combat vehicles, about 50 artillery guns, 1 Buk surface-to-air missile launcher, four BM-21 Grad MLR systems, 60 main battle tanks, two tactical-level UAVs, and two vessels.
At the same time, it is noted that the assessment of losses is complicated by the high intensity of hostilities so the numbers might turn out to be higher.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, said Russia was shelling humanitarian corridors through which women and children were evacuating, wounding some.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Martial law was imposed in the country and general mobilization was announced.
Ukraine has filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
