In Sumy region, man in car crushed with tanks while trying to stop enemy convoy
Criminal proceedings have been launched.
The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"The occupiers crushed the car with a local man behind the wheel, who was trying to stop the convoy – criminal proceedings have been instituted. Under the procedural guidance of the Romny District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial inquiry is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement reads.
According to the inquiry, on February 28, 2022, near the village of Pokhozha Krynytsia, Romenskyi district, a local resident blocked the road on the path of a Russian armored convoy with his own car, attempting to stop its advance.
The Russian aggressors drove their tanks over the vehicle and Mykola, 47, died on the spot, the prosecutor's office said.
As Ukrinform reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops open fire to destroy key infrastructure, missiles hit residential buildings.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
