Ukraine analyzing yesterday's talks with Russia, forming its position for next round - Kuleba
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this at an online briefing on Tuesday, March 1, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We are now analyzing what happened yesterday -- the stated positions. The president was fully informed, down to the smallest detail, about the conversation that took place yesterday. We will decide on our position and then, if necessary, we will prepare for a new meeting," Kuleba said.
According to him, the Ukrainian side believes that such a meeting should take place because Ukraine believes in diplomacy and is ready for a diplomatic solution to resolving this military conflict.
"But under no circumstances will we go to the talks if the Russian Federation only plans to announce its ultimatums. Negotiations are negotiations, and we will talk and find solutions. But we will not fulfill Russia's ultimatums and whims," Kuleba said.
On February 28, the Ukrainian and Russian delegations met on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border near the Prypiat River. The key issue of the talks was the immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.
Mykhailo Podoliak, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, who took part in the meeting, said that the Ukrainian and Russian delegations had discussed a number of priority topics during the talks and are now traveling to their capitals to consult on further decisions. In addition, according to him, both parties discussed the possibility of holding a second round of talks in the near future.
Commenting on the talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, Zelensky said that there is currently no result he would like to see.
