Vereshchuk calls on int’l community to help create humanitarian corridors
That’s according to the Ministry of Reintegration, Ukrinform reports.
"International organizations must join in resolving the humanitarian problems that have arisen against the background of Russia's aggression against Ukraine (...) First of all, it’s the civilians that are suffering from Russia's aggressive actions – children, women, and the elderly," Vereshchuk said.
She also said that the International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Health Organization posted on Twitter that in the context of the aggression started by Russia against Ukraine, it is necessary to allow civilians to evacuate from war-torn territories and create humanitarian corridors.
Russia has been ignoring the rules, so the entire international community must join in creating humanitarian corridors.
"This also applies to the removal of bodies of Russian soldiers," Vereshchuk explained.
According to the top prosecutor, international organizations have not yet joined in solving this problem.
"Every day I communicate with representatives of the ICRC. Unfortunately, we have not yet received confirmation that they are ready for the mission. Meanwhile, representatives of the military-civil administrations on the ground are trying to address humanitarian issues on their own, "she said.
As reported, several hundred residents of Volnovakha were recently successfully evacuated with the direct participation of the head of the Donetsk Regional Civil-Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko. The focus is also on delivering food, water, medicines, and critical necessities to the civilians.
As reported earlier, the president of the aggressor power, Vladimir Putin, on February 24 announced the beginning of what he claimed was a “special military operation” in Donbas.
Martial law has been imposed throughout Ukraine. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization.
