Nuclear safety violated at Zaporizhzhia NPP - acting director general
Energoatom announced on its Telegram channel, Ukrinform reports.
"We are doing everything possible, but the fire continues, firefighters have not been allowed in. There are huge risks. Fighting at the station. Reactors are in danger," said Acting General Director of Zaporizhzhia NPP Ihor Murashov.
As Ukrinform reported, overnight into Friday, a fire broke out at Zaporizhzhia NPP after it was shelled by Russia’s heavy weapons. There was a hit on the first power unit. A nuclear threat was declared.
On March 2, 2022, Energy Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, together with the heads of the SNRIU and Energoatom, appealed to the IAEA Director General Mr. Grossi to request that NATO enforce the A2/AD zone over Ukraine (no-fly zone).
