G7 countries to meet on Friday due to situation in Ukraine

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries will meet on Friday to discuss the situation in Ukraine and coordinate steps in response to Russian aggression.

According to the U.S. State Department, the meeting will take place at 14:00 Kyiv time, Ukrinform reports.

According to the work schedule of the State Department, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be in Brussels on Friday, where he will take part in the G7 summit after NATO ministerial discussions.

The G7 leaders will communicate in part in a virtual format. In particular, according to Reuters, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will join the discussion via video link.

"We will exchange views on how to handle (the current situation in Ukraine) and plan to strengthen the G7's coordination over the matter," the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.

The Group of Seven (G7) includes the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Germany, the United States, France and Japan.
