Radiation background of Zaporizhzhia region poses no danger to population’s life and health
"During the day of March 3, 2022 and as of 7:00 on March 4, 2022, the radiation background in Zaporizhzhia region remains unchanged and poses no danger to life and health of the population," the Zaporizhzhia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine informs.
It is noted that the results of radiation background monitoring show that it does not exceed the natural background inherent in this area.
On the night before Friday, March 4, a fire broke out at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant as a result of Russia’s shelling from heavy equipment.
The first power unit was hit, said Andriy Tuz, a representative of the ZNPP press service.
Energoatom, National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine, issued a statement addressed to the world community warning that the shelling was "a violation of the nuclear and radiation safety of Europe's largest nuclear facility, which could have serious and tragic consequences for the world."
ZNPP reported that Kadyrov forces broke into the station and intended to mine it.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine informs that the fire erupted in training center outside the NPP. At ZNPP, the Power Unit 3 is disconnected from the united power system (only Power Unit 4 is working).
Ramzan Kadyrov is the leader of Russia’s Chechnya region and an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin
