Erdogan speaks to Putin, calls for dialogue
This was discussed during a phone call between the presidents of Turkey and Russia, Ukrinform reports, with reference to TRT Haber.
"President Erdogan emphasized the importance of taking urgent steps to ensure a ceasefire, open humanitarian corridors and sign a peace agreement," the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications said.
During the conversation, which lasted about an hour, Erdogan said he was ready to contribute to a peaceful settlement.
Stating that an urgent general ceasefire would not only alleviate humanitarian concerns in the region, but also give an opportunity to seek a political solution, President Erdogan reiterated his call to "Let's pave the way for peace together."
Erdogan has repeatedly stated that Turkey is ready to make efforts to reduce tensions in the region, including by hosting a summit at the level of leaders or negotiations at the technical level. During his visit to Kyiv on February 3, Erdogan expressed his readiness to host a summit at the level of leaders or talks at the technical level.
