11 buildings destroyed, casualties reported after enemy attack on Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, as a result of shelling by Russian aircraft, large-scale fires broke out in 21 buildings in the central part of the city, 11 buildings were destroyed, and casualties were reported.

According to Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook.

"During the day from March 6 to 7, rescuers of the Kharkiv garrison of the State Emergency Service continued to perform their duties in wartime. The enemy with new force carried out shelling and air bombardment, fired on residential neighborhoods and various facilities of Kharkiv and villages of the region, leading to destructions and fires," the statement said.

At 19:15, the city of Kharkiv came under another massive air bombardment, as a result of which multi-storey residential buildings, administrative buildings, medical institutions, educational institutions and dormitories were completely or partially destroyed. There were also large-scale fires in 21 buildings in the central part of the city.

Rescuers rescued and evacuated about 200 people while putting out fires and clearing the rubble.

Firefighters also found the bodies of eight people under the rubble.

The final information on those killed and injured is being clarified.

As was reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russian troops are shelling and destroying infrastructure, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in the country and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan launched an investigation into the situation in Ukraine.
