Six cities in Zaporizhzhia region temporarily occupied – administration

The cities of Polohy, Vasylivka, Tokmak, Enerhodar, Berdyansk and Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region are temporarily occupied.

The regional military administration reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Day 12 of heroic resistance to the Russian invasion in the Zaporizhzhia region has begun. Currently, Polohy, Vasylivka, Tokmak, Enerhodar, Berdyansk and Melitopol are temporarily occupied," the post reads.

According to the military, near the settlements of Huliaipole, Orikhiv and in the direction of Vasylivka-Balabino, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a defensive operation.

The regional administration urged residents of the city and region to join territorial defense forces, take up arms and dig trenches.

As was reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russian troops are shelling and destroying infrastructure, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in the country and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
