Ukraine calls on highest UN court to apply precautionary measures to Russia ASAP
Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Anton Korynevych, announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
The Ukrainian delegation has presented Ukraine's position at the UN ICJ on accusations of genocide against Russia.
"We thank all those who were with us during these difficult days of drafting our lawsuit and our position. All your proposals were taken into account and thanks to you, we strengthened Ukraine's position.
As Ukrinform reported, at the Ukrainian side asked the court to impose precautionary measures and oblige Russia to stop its military operations on the territory of Ukraine.
The court hearings in The Hague are scheduled for March 7 and 8, 2022, from 10:00 to 13:00 local time. This is a hearing on genocide charges under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been killing civilians, shelling and destroying key infrastructure, while their missiles have been hitting Ukrainian households.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
