Ukrzaliznytsia evacuated 1.5M people since war started
The relevant statement was made by Ukrzaliznytsia’s press service on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“For 1,500,000 Ukrainians, the railway has become a road of life. We have intentionally exchanged comfort and speed for safety. Now it is the most important thing,” the report states.
Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has apologized to its passengers for inconveniences. But, now the main objective is to allow civilians to leave the areas affected by shelling.
“And one more night all the key railway stations are ending the day with very few passengers. It is a result of the concerted efforts of the whole team,” Ukrzaliznytsia JSC added.
A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. The Russian military are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile strikes on residential districts in Ukrainian cities and villages.
